Terence joined the firm as a professional assistant immediately after graduating and became a partner in 1994. His appointment as Senior Partner in 2006 recognised not only his solid reputation as a lawyer but also the social and administrative skills he has demonstrated as Chairman of the Kabelano Charity Trust and a member of the Botswana Football Association executive.

He was extensively involved in the formulation of the Legal Practitioners Act and currently sits on the Judicial Services Commission of Botswana.

Thabiso T. Tafila LLB (University of Swaziland 1983) (Partner)

One of the last Batswana to benefit from studying in Edinburgh, Tabs joined the Attorney-General's Chambers as State Counsel where his training and experience as a prosecutor formed the foundations of his present reputation as a leading criminal defense attorney. His posting as a Government Conveyancer and subsequent appointment as Acting Registrar of Deeds stand him in good stead in property matters, as does the network he developed in Chambers. These skills are augmented by his certification in Trial Advocacy and a member of the Trial Advocacy Trainers group.

Tabs joined Minchin & Kelly (Botswana) in 1987 and became a partner in the firm in 1989. In recent years he has served as a legal advisor to and member of the Board of the Botswana Savings Bank (a member of the World Savings Bank Organizations). Since 2000 he has been a Council Member of the Botswana Law Society.

John practised in South Africa until moving to Botswana in 1987. His experience, particularly in plaintiff litigation work, made him a welcome addition to the firm's litigation department, which he has headed since becoming a partner in 1989.

Over the past twenty years, John has worked closely with all major insurers in Botswana. His wide experience in and practical knowledge of both substantive and procedural law has benefited a diversity of clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in the High Court of Botswana.

Graham joined Minchin & Kelly in August 2012 as Head of Commercial Department.

Graham has deep and broad international commercial law experience gained both in house as General Counsel for major corporates in the UK, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand and also in private practise as a commercial attorney in leading law firms in the UK and New Zealand. Graham's experience in transactional work includes a range of multi-million dollar deals from the project infrastructure and finance work of setting up a major petrochemical facility in Kuwait, through to the sale and purchase of high value oil and gas and mining assets in Saudi Arabia and Europe for Saudi Aramco, Saudi basic Industries and Texaco by way of farm-ins and license swaps for example. As previous counsel for a leading insurance company in the UK, Graham has also been involved in financial services law and drafting, regulatory work and corporate governance.  Graham, as a useful "bolt-on' to his commercial experience and former adviser to the University of Exeter in the UK is also an accomplished intellectual property and technology lawyer with experience in patents, trade-marks, design rights and copyright together with all deals involving technology including company start ups and financing.  Graham is a practical commercial lawyer and believes passionately that a lawyer should become a team member of his clients business.

Simwe

Simwe P.Mwiya LLB (University of Botswana 2003) (Senior Associate)

Simwe qualified and graduated in 2003. He started to practice with Helfer and Company in 2003, before joining Isaac Seloko Attorneys in 2005 where he established himself as a litigation attorney.

Simwe joined the firm in 2011 and was a welcome addition to the firm’s Litigation Department. Under the firms head of litigation, Simwe has continued to grow, especially in areas of insurance law and personal injury; as well as enhancing his skills in civil and commercial litigation.

He has a strong passion for the law and great dedication towards his work.

Jayne Cross LLB (UNISA 2008) (Associate)

Jayne's determination to practise law led her to enrol for the correspondence program of the LLB course offered by the University of South Africa (UNISA). In 2008, she was one of two students out of a group of approximately 140, who graduated cum laude.
She was admitted to practise as an Attorney in October 2009 and joined Minchin & Kelly in January 2010, initially in the commercial department and subsequently in the litigation department where she currently practises.

She has a strong passion for the law, a high level of intellect and is committed to her work

Keolebogile M.Mugabe LLB (University of Witwatersrand 2008) (Associate)

Keolebogile joined Minchin & Kelly (Botswana) in August 2012. He completed his LLB as the University of the Witwatersrand in 2008 and graduated in 2009. He joined Armstrongs Attorneys in October 2009 after completing his bar exams and was admitted to practise as an Attorney in 2009. Keo initially commenced his legal career in the commercial department and subsequently in the litigation and debt collection departments. He joined Minchin & Kelly (Botswana) to head the debt collection department of the firm, where he currently practises.

He is committed to his work, thrives on challenges and has a strong passion for the law.

Areas of expertise: commercial and contract law, labour law, civil litigation and debt collection.

Isaac Ntombela LLB (University of Pretoria 2009) (Associate)

Isaac graduated with an LLB Degree (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2009.
Isaac started his career as a Lecturer with the Gaborone Universal College of Law, before joining the Attorney-General's Chambers where he had a short stint as Prosecutions Counsel in the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. He joined Minchin & Kelly (Botswana) in October 2011 and currently works in the Commercial Business Unit.

Areas of expertise: commercial transactions, competition, labour law, conducting legal due diligence and administration of estates.

Daniel C.Jamali - MBA, BSc(Hon) (Oxford Brookes University), FCCA, FCPA (Botswana)
Chief Operating Officer

Daniel joined the firm in January 2010 as the Finance and Admin Manager. Qualified in 2005, Daniel is a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 15 years experience in retail, manufacturing and construction. He has worked for some international companies who are leaders in their fields and this experience has helped mould a well balanced finance person with a quest for excellence. In October 2011, Daniel was elevated to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Daniel is assertive and versatile and keen on improving himself to be the accountant of the 21st century. He hopes to bring his varied experience to work at M&K and hopes to gain as much knowledge in the specialized legal management field that the firm exposes him to.
